Artist In Residency Portugal
In 2015, I participated in an artist residency at the picturesque Eco Quinta "Moinhos do Dão", located near the village of Viseu, Portugal.
Situated in a secluded valley by the river, I shared this experience with another talented artist, Beckey Kaye (from Portland, USA).
We worked independently in our studios, creating images and objects while building a connection with the Moinhos do Dão environment.
We experimented with new material techniques and reflected on nature at MdD and the self's existence within a natural setting.
We took part in the art festival in the village of Viseu, where some of our work was displayed in a charming window gallery, Saguão, and Gallery Carmo 81.
Additionally, we were invited to present our work to the students of the art high school, sharing our motivations for becoming artists.
An open atelier/studio day was also part of the experience, allowing visitors to explore my workspace.
Special thanks to Freya van Dien (from MdD) and Rui (from the art high school) for organizing everything!
It was a remarkable experience in a beautiful setting, discovering wonderful places, and meeting fascinating, lovely people!

Before "the cloud" enriched my life, I faced the loss of important documentation several times due to stolen laptops or damaged / no backups. While I have many more pictures of events and art shows, I often rediscover delightful things online that once slipped my mind.
In the past, others documented my work better than I did, but with the rise of smartphones and social media, it has become much easier to stay organized. I might revisit my extensive archives to share more photos that resonate with my journey.
