It is a new version of a project from 2020 and features a Yakama woman captured in a photograph taken by Frank La Roche in 1899. The piece pays tribute to the essential role that indigenous women have played in their communities throughout history. They gathered plants and herbs, shared stories, created art and music, practiced herbal medicine, cared for children, and cooked meals. This artwork serves as a testament to their indomitable spirit and significant contributions to their community.
